We are a non-profit group dedicated to teaching Karate-do to serious students. We invite you to explore our website and investigate our art. Come by and observe one of our practices. We are happy to answer any of your questions and look forward to meeting you.

You can:

 Improve Your Concentration.

 Increase Your Focus and Discipline.

 Develop Flexibility, Balance and Coordination.

Test Your Physical and Mental Limits.

Build Self-Confidence in Handling a Variety of Situations.

All of these benefits can be realized through the serious study and traditional practice of Shotokan Karate (Karate-do), a time-tested, proven method of mental and physical training and conditioning.

Originating in Okinawa and maturing in Japan, Shotokan Karate was brought to this country in 1955 by Mr. Tsutomu Ohshima. It involves a variety of techniques, including blocks, strikes, kicks, evasions, throws, and joint manipulations.

The Central Coast Shotokan Dojo is led by Martin McGrail, a 4th Degree Black Belt (Yodan) with over 38 years experience. He is a direct student of Mr. Tsutomu Ohshima, head instructor and founder of Shotokan Karate of America (SKA).

This program is sponsored by the City of Pismo

Beach, Parks and Recreation Department.
